MithraSIG is an acoustic simulation software based on a GIS.
The Geographical Information System (GIS) brings accessibility and interoperability via a wide range of supported formats (both reading and writing), advanced design, editing, analysis and rendering features.
The GIS software is Cadcorp SIS, originally selected by the French National Geographic Institute (IGN) for the CSTB.

What makes MithraSIG unique
A Geomod - CSTB co-development
MithraSIG is the result of the collaboration between two specialists, the CSTB (Scientific and Technical Center for Building) and Geomod, who have combined their respective expertise to develop a powerful acoustic simulation software.
The CSTB, renowned expert with over 40 years of research into acoustics, provides state of the art simulation engines in terms of both precision and performance.
Geomod, expert in geomatics and renowned for its high reactivity and the quality of its support, brings its expertise in development and integration.
Simple construction of your model
MithraSIG is designed so that you can simply create your model.
Through a simple and intuitive interface, creating the model is fast. It works either by integrating data from different formats or by using the design tools manually.
Fast and accurate simulations
MithraSIG is based on the knowledge of the CSTB and combines speed and accuracy in simulation.
The simulations of the propagation of the acoustic waves of MithraSIG are performed using powerful algorithms based on asymptotic methods, such as ray propagation and adaptive beam propagation.
These algorithms are equally suitable for prediction in an enclosed environment like a city center with a high construction density, or in an open environment with vast spaces between buildings, and also in non flat areas where the terrain topography affects propagation.
MithraSIG benefits from the work and expertise in Research and Development of the CSTB.
Clear and complete renderings
MithraSIG allows you to create both vector and raster renderings with an extremely sophisticated map creation tool. Simple checkboxes allow you to define all the parameters of a map: indicators, sources, frequencies, color table, rendering type, precision. The visualization of the map is updated in real-time when these parameters are changed. It is easy to set up and create your map quickly.
4 map types: vertical, horizontal, building facades, and punctual receiver maps.
Presentation of results in tables, maps, sections, 3D views.
Real time updates after modifications: change in traffic conditions, choice of a different noise indicator, enable/disable noise sources, etc.
Creation of differential maps: before/after implementation of an infrastructure, speed changes, tables of value on receivers.
Compliance with standards
The physical simulation engine computes noise propagation according to the requirements of current regulations, including European Directive 2002/49/CE, which takes into account the effect of meteorological conditions.
Geometric engines ranging from rapid ray propagation to beam propagation enabling diffraction on the vertical edges of objects.
64 bits software and multi-processing, using the latest available technology.
Calculation methods: CNOSSOS-EU, NMPB2008 (octave and 1/3 octave), ISO9613, NMPB96 (XP S31-133), Harmonoise (octave and 1/3 octave).
Flexible and adaptable to the needs
MithraSIG is suitable for the acoustic simulation of a city, an urban area or a department as well as for carrying out an impact study and a local noise prevention plan.
Because each project is different, several license levels based on the number of objects taken into account in the calculation model are available (ground excluded):
A complete and simple package
Moreover, your needs are multiple.
So all types of sources are included from the first license level in order to carry out all types of acoustic mapping projects: road, rail and industrial sources, visualization of rays, analysis…
The software uses the “multithreading” technology and runs in 64 bits. The only limit is the number of objects.
The railway and tramway sources exploit the base of the railway convoys of the SNCF.
Industrial sources (point, line, facade or surface) use the Imagine database (European project) and offer more than 1,200 sources.
Decision and communication support
MithraSIG can produce documents of quality for acoustic simulation, in particular dynamic PDFs (with layers, diagrams and geo-referencing). These very light PDFs allow a transfer of the renderings produced by e-mail.

MithraSIG can also measure the acoustic impact of future projects in terms of impacted population. 2D and 3D maps are great communication vectors. They provide an objective advice in public meetings related to new infrastructure or new development.
